Veritas received reports via a client’s helpdesk that a considerable number of travellers had entered a premises forcing their way through electric gates and then setting up an encampment.
Our specialist team attended immediately and served notice on approximately 16 caravans. The travellers were terrorising the tenants on site and had begun fly tipping. The travellers also caused damage to CCTV Cameras and made threats of extreme violence to the tenants
Our security officers attended site within 4 hours and served notice on the occupiers. Dog handlers were deployed to monitor their activities overnight and record any evidence of fly-tipping or anti-social behaviour.
The travellers continued to fly-tipped throughout the night and this was recorded by our on-site team. We attended the following day with enforcement officers to carry out the eviction but were met with extreme hostility – the decision was made to contact the Met Police and request their assistance. Presented with the evidence gathered by our officer’s bodycam footage as well a bailiff testimony they agreed to assist our team and serve a S61 notice.
The travellers vacated the site in the proceeding 12 hours, and we quickly resecured the premises and blocked the entrances only permitting access to authorised tenants.
We then mobilised our quick reaction clearance team who cleared the fly tipped waste.
